Learn Japanese Fast Update 1: I learned Hiragana!!

by Mitchell on February 4, 2012

Ok, So it’s been slightly more than two weeks since my “Learn Japanese Fast” (3 months) challenge started but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy.

Due to some awesome suggestions from readers I decided to master Hiragana first and I am proud to report that I’ve been able to do it!

Here’s the exact process I followed to master Hiragana in two weeks (well just over).
Overall I probably only spent between 5 and 10 hours working on learning this. The rest of my time was spent memorizing words from my 100 Japanese words to memorize list and slacking off.

Our web guru Jaaaaaasssoooooon will actually be hitting Niseko in
a week or two so expect a full report of his escapades.

Niseko is a resort area that includes 6 different ski areas. A trip to Niseko is often considered the trip of a lifetime by many skiers and snowboarders from around the world. In order to fully enjoy your trip to Niseko here are some tips on what to bring, how to pack, and where to go.

Obviously you will need winter ski clothing when you visit Niseko to ski and snowboard. Many people pack and take their own clothing in their suitcases, however you may also want to consider renting winter ski clothing once you arrive in Niseko.

So, I’ve been seeing the Grand Canyon Burger around for a week or two now. I walk by a Mcdicks on my way way to work and that succulent burger has been staring me down daily. There’s also a bunch of tv ads for it. Anyways, the other day I relented and picked one up [...]

Thumbnail image for 3 months: Learning Japanese Fast

So, I’ve been living in Japan for close to 5 months now and unfortunately haven’t picked up nearly as much of the language as I’d hoped. I’ve got the greetings down and can order simple food but anything past that (let alone a conversation) is out of the question. I thought that since I was [...]

January 1, 2012

Travel videos can be a great way of sharing your travels with the world (or just your friends and family back home). Jaywalking in Japan: A Cautionary Tale

December 16, 2011

Ever since the warnings of my parents to “wait for the light” and “look both ways” faded I have been an avid jaywalker. It saves time and there is something mildly exciting about crossing the road before you are supposed to. For those of you who don’t know about jaywalking it’s simply the practice of [...]
